Fire dues

Information you need to know about paying your fire dues

Did you know the Sunshine Valley Fire Department is mostly funded through payment of yearly fire dues which are only $175.00 per annum. Members also spend hours applying for grants and organizing fundraising events. We are grateful for any donations made above and beyond to the Fire Department throughout the year and thank those that continue to support our efforts.

Depending on the area you live, (Alpine, Meadow, Parkhill, Sumalo, Huckleberry, Cedar) your fire dues might already be wrapped into your strata, co-op or developer fees. If you are unsure whether you need to individually pay fire dues email svvfdinfo@telus.net for more information.

If you are required to pay dues separately you can etransfer funds to svvfdinfo@telus.net and please indicate your Lot Number. You can also pay your fire dues via cheque payable to the Sunshine Valley Volunteer Fire Department. We have a secure mail box at the hall by the side door where you can drop off your dues.

  • The Provincial Government nor the Regional District provide any funding to the department so your continued support is what keeps us going.

Have you ever wondered what life in the Valley would be like without the Fire Department in your neighborhood?

  • It may be hard to imagine especially if you have moved into the area and enjoy the safety, comfort and security of knowing the Fire Department is right in your neighborhood. Volunteers live in the community they serve and don't have to come from our closest town which is Hope to arrive at the scene. This means  response time to things like medical emergencies, house fires and disaster response, like during the floods, is immediate. There will be a team at your door in less than 10 minutes or coordinating and providing aid and assistance during a crisis situation.

Are you aware having the Fire Department in the Valley means you are most likely able to get fire insurance for your home?

We love the area in which we live and recreate in. That's why we choose to live here. Insurance on our homes and property is vital, and without the Fire Department in the Valley obtaining fire insurance would not be possible. No one likes to think about a fire burning down their house or cabin, but in the event a fire does start, having peace of mind you have a team close by doing everything they can to save your home is a great comfort. Also, providing peace of mind is the ability to rebuild because you are able to insure your home properly.

IF YOU HAVEN'T PAID YOUR FIRE DUES THIS YEAR YOU CAN DO SO AT ANY TIME BY CONTACTING svvfdinfo@telus.net. Send your etranfer to this email and indicate your lot number.
